Blood Collection Nurse

Job Overview

We are looking for a nurse specialized in blood collection to join our medical analysis laboratory. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in blood collection, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Overall Role

The blood collection nurse is a key element in our laboratory. He/she is responsible for performing blood collections (adults and pediatrics) and assisting patients throughout the process. This role is essential to ensure quality samples necessary for accurate and reliable analyses.

Main Responsibilities

- Greet patients and make them comfortable for the procedure.

- Perform blood collections while following hygiene and safety standards.

- Ensure the follow-up and management of the collected samples.

- Collaborate with laboratory technicians to ensure smooth analysis procedures.

- Ensure proper functioning of collection equipment (needles, tubes, etc.) and report any anomalies.

- Apply quality protocols in effect within the laboratory.

Success Criteria

To succeed in this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Technical Competence: Mastery of blood collection techniques, including with children and difficult patients.

2. Listening and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to reassure and make patients comfortable while providing a fast and efficient service.

3. Precision and Attention to Detail: Perform collections carefully, minimizing errors and repeats.

4. Efficiency: Optimal time management to ensure smooth operations while meeting sample delivery deadlines.

5. Team Spirit: Collaborate with the medical team and technicians to offer comprehensive patient care.

Minimum Qualifications Required

• State Diploma in Nursing or equivalent.

• At least 1 to 2 years of experience in blood collection (experience in pediatrics is a plus).

• Mastery of blood collection and biological sample management techniques.

• Knowledge of hygiene and safety regulations.

• Familiarity with laboratory management software is a plus.
